The personal key panel is a switch, not an empty field. The toggle reads Using your own key or Using les Archives credits, and the panel explains which is which. Turning it off doesn't delete your key. The field greys out and a line underneath reads "Saved but paused · turn the toggle on to use it". The collapsed row summarises as "On · your key", "Off · using credits", or "Not set".

Use your own key when you've run out of credits, when you want faster and larger batches, or when you would rather keep the usage on your own account. Use plan credits when you want nothing to manage. The panel links to console.anthropic.com and walks you through creating a key. A brand new key needs a little credit added under Billing before it will work.

Which key gets used, in practice:

• If you own the workspace and your personal key is on, your work goes straight to Anthropic on your key and bills to your account. That's also what removes the time ceiling on large batches.
• If you're a team member, your work goes through our server on the WORKSPACE ANTHROPIC KEY. Members never fall back to a personal key.
• If you own the workspace and have no personal key on, your work goes through our server on the workspace key, then on plan credits.

So the personal key wins for an owner. It isn't a last resort.
