Connect Dropbox

les Archives reads your photographs where they already are. Nothing is moved, copied into a new library, or renamed. Connecting is how the app gets permission to look.

Where the button is

Settings is the only route. The setup wizard is gone, and nothing prompts you.

Open SETTINGS, go to Chapter 08 Keys & Cloud, and unfold the CLOUD STORAGE row.

Step 1. Press Connect

The row shows Dropbox with a status pill next to it. Unconnected, the pill reads NOT CONNECTED and the button reads Connect.

Press it. Your browser opens and Dropbox asks whether les Archives can access your files. Approve it and the browser hands you back to the app.

Step 2. Check the pill

It should flip to CONNECTED, with your Dropbox account name after it. The button becomes Disconnect. That is all of it.

You don't pick a folder here

This is the part that surprises people. Connecting doesn't ask you to choose a folder, and les Archives never scans a parent folder and pulls in every job underneath it.

You pick folders one job at a time, later, when you start one. That is covered under Catalog your first job.

What connecting unlocks

From Dropbox only appears in the NEW JOB menu once Dropbox is connected. Same for the attach dialog on a job that started as a debrief. If you're looking for that option and can't find it, this is why.

The connection belongs to this Mac

It lives in this Mac's settings, not in your workspace. Sign in on a second Mac and you connect again there.

Access renews itself in the background. If you ever land back on NOT CONNECTED, press Connect again. If that happens twice in a week, tell us.

What reaches us

Your full-resolution originals never do. What travels is a working copy of each frame you catalog. The data and privacy page is the specific version, and it's worth two minutes before you catalog a client's job.
