Event phases from subfolders

Most of us keep a wedding split into subfolders by moment. Welcome Dinner. Getting Ready. Ceremony. Reception. les Archives reads that structure and tags every frame with the phase it came from, so the work you already did organizing a shoot becomes something you can filter by later.

Where the switch is

Not in the detail fields. A toggle in the job footer, on the same row as [ REMOVE ], sitting on the right.

It reads EVENT PHASES [ ] when off and EVENT PHASES [×] when on. Click it to flip it.

It's already on

This is the part the old documentation had backwards. Event phases are auto-enabled.

When you attach a local folder, we look for image-bearing subfolders. If we find any, the toggle comes on by itself. A flat folder of loose images leaves it off.

Cloud jobs behave the same way. The toggle always shows on a Dropbox job, and we list the folder's children in the background and turn phases on when we find subfolders. That check runs once per job per session, and it never touches a job that is running, queued or finished.

So on a local job you'll only see the toggle once we've found subfolders. On a cloud job you'll always see it.

What each state does

On. Cataloging walks the whole folder tree and tags each frame with the name of the folder it's sitting in directly. That name becomes its Assigned Phase. A folder called Getting Ready produces frames whose phase reads Getting Ready. Everything still lands in the one job.

Frames sitting loose in the top folder, not inside any subfolder, get no phase.

Off. Cataloging reads the folder flat.

Name the folders the way you want them read

The phase is literally the folder's name. So Reception is better than 04_reception_final, because the second one is what a caption will say.

Rename before you catalog and you never think about it again.

Finding them later

In The Archive, filter by Assigned Phase. Every ceremony frame across the job, or every welcome dinner shot, in one view. The grid and the filters covers the filter bar.

The detail panel keeps both values visible. The PHASE row shows the effective phase, and underneath it a line reading folder: Ceremony · matches or folder: Ceremony · differs so you can see where the value came from. When they differ, the phase menu offers Use folder value at the bottom.

The phase also feeds the writing, so a getting-ready set can be described as exactly that rather than guessed at from what's in the frame.
