Install les Archives
Download it, drag it to Applications, open it. Two minutes, and macOS asks one ordinary question along the way.

les Archives is a Mac app, signed and notarized by Apple. Nothing to work around, no security setting to change.
Before any of that, here's the whole app in under four minutes, narrated. Nothing plays until you press play, so turn your sound on when you're ready.
Three steps
- Unzip the download. You get a single app called les Archives. If you get a folder full of loose files instead, the download didn't finish. Delete it and start again.
- Drag it to Applications. Don't run it from Downloads. les Archives updates itself in place, and it wants to be in Applications when it does.
- Open it. macOS asks once whether you're sure about an app you downloaded from the internet. Click Open. That is the only prompt, and it doesn't come back.
If you see something scarier than that
A message saying your Mac can't check les Archives for malicious software isn't the normal path. It usually means the download was interrupted and the copy you have is damaged.
Delete both the zip and the app. Download again, and let it finish before you unzip. If it happens twice, tell us rather than clicking through it. At that point we want to look at the build rather than have you force it open.
If it won't open at all
The download page has a three-question triage covering the ways this usually goes wrong. It takes about thirty seconds and it resolves most of them without you filing anything.
What happens next
Open the app and it asks for your license key, not a password. That is the next article.
