Install les Archives
Download, drag to Applications, open. Two minutes, and macOS asks you one ordinary question along the way.

les Archives is a Mac app, signed and notarized by Apple. There is nothing to work around and no security setting to change.
Unzip the download
You get a single app called les Archives. If you get a folder full of files instead, the download did not finish. Delete it and start again.
Drag it to Applications
Do not run it from Downloads. les Archives updates itself in place, and it wants to be in Applications when it does.
Open it
macOS asks once whether you are sure about an app you downloaded from the internet. Click Open. That is the only prompt, and it does not come back.

If you see something scarier than that
A message saying your Mac cannot check les Archives for malicious software is not the normal path. It usually means the download was interrupted and the copy you have is damaged.
Delete both the zip and the app, download again, and let it finish before you unzip. If it happens twice, tell us rather than clicking through it, because at that point we want to look at the build rather than have you force it open.
If it will not open at all
There is a three question triage on the download page that covers the ways this usually goes wrong. It takes about thirty seconds and it resolves most of them without you filing anything.
What happens next
Open the app and it asks for your license key, not a password. That is the next article.
